If you happen to find yourself driving from Bordeaux towards the really really expensive wine names like St Julien and Pauillac you pass through places like Moulis and Listrac. This is where Fourcas Dupré is situated. I’ve passed by many times but never been in. It is on a patch of elevated gravel which is the famed geology of the region but because it doesn’t carry the famous name, it’s much better value. At 43M it is (relatively in Somerset terms anyway) high up and so has a nice long growing season which helps to produce depth of flavour..The wines are about 80% Cabernet and Merlot with the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. 2015 is a really lovely year for this wine as wine critic Neal Martin says on roberparker.com

The 2015 Fourcas-Dupre, which showed extremely well from barrel, has a classic pencil lead-scented bouquet that builds nicely in the glass, blackberry and briary scents very expressive after just a few swirls of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. This is not a deep or powerful wine, but it has a certain elegance and I appreciate the precision on the finish. You could broach this early or just enjoy over the next 12 to 15 years - 91 points
